A label I’m proud of

A label I’m proud of

There are a lot of labels we carry through life.

Some we’re given. Some we earn. Some we outgrow.

One label I’ve always been proud of is founder.

Since the founding of GigSalad, I’ve proudly been a co-founder. I’ve held onto that as an indicator, a marker in my timeline that I found something, I discovered something, I had an idea, and I grasped it. I chased it.

I chose my partner. I chose my co-founder.

I talked to Steve and said, “Let’s work on this together.”

Like a marriage, we committed to building and growing something together.

And we did it with a lot of care. We did it with tenderness and intention.

Yeah… it just makes me proud.

Because it’s still here today.

There’s a community that was built as a result of GigSalad.

People have come and gone. Some have had a different impact than others. But every one of them has been part of the story.

Being a founder is unique. It’s a unique proposition for those who choose to pursue it.

Whether you succeed or fail, being a founder means you brought something into existence.

You tried.

I tried.

I believed in myself.

Being a founder… yeah, it’s a unique place.

And I’m proud of it.

I’m a proud founder.

What about you?

Is there a label you’ve earned, not because someone gave it to you, but because you chose it… and you’re proud to carry it?
